Replica of a historical firefighter’s axe. The firefighter’s axe (sometimes also called a firefighter’s sabre or dagger) is a specific sidearm that was an integral part of firefighters’ equipment mainly in the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. While today it serves exclusively decorative and ceremonial purposes, in the past it was a functional tool. Currently, firefighter’s axes are sought-after collector’s items. Each piece tells the story of a particular brigade and the era in which it was made. In the Czech Republic, the most valuable pieces are from the Austro-Hungarian period and the First Republic, characterized by precise craftsmanship.
