Cordless Circular Saws

Cordless Circular Saws — Accurate Cutting Without the Cable
A cordless circular saw is a power tool for straight-line cutting of timber, wood-based panel materials, plywood, and other sheet goods, powered by a rechargeable battery. Depending on size and design, such tools are commonly referred to as circular saws, cordless saws, or — for compact models with a smaller blade diameter — trim saws or mini circular saws.
PROFI-INSTRUMENT stocks cordless circular saws from leading manufacturers — Festool, Makita, and Milwaukee — covering applications from construction to professional joinery.
Typical Applications
- Ripping boards, beams, and solid timber
- Cross-cutting and ripping sheet materials: plywood, MDF, particleboard, OSB
- Cutting laminate flooring and engineered parquet
- Cutting construction panels and sandwich panels
- On-site installation work without access to power outlets
- Mobile carpentry and joinery operations
Types of Cordless Circular Saws
- Standard circular saws are fitted with blades of 150–190 mm diameter and offer a cutting depth of 40–65 mm. These are a versatile choice for the majority of construction and joinery tasks.
- Trim saws (mini circular saws) use blades of 85–136 mm with a cutting depth of up to 40 mm. Their reduced weight and compact dimensions make them well suited to precise work with thin materials, cutting in confined spaces, and single-handed operation.
- Plunge-cut track saws allow cuts to be started at any point on a panel without pre-drilling and produce an exceptionally clean cut edge when used with a guide rail. These models are widely used in furniture manufacturing and finish carpentry.
Advantages of Cordless Circular Saws
- Cable-free operation removes the constraints of working on sites where power outlets are absent or far from the cutting area.
- Current 18–54 V battery platforms deliver the power and charge capacity needed to complete a full working cycle without recharging.
- Cut quality. With a quality blade and a guide rail, a cordless circular saw produces an edge comparable to that of stationary machinery.
- The absence of a power cord eliminates the risk of accidentally cutting through it with the blade — one of the most common causes of accidents with corded saws.
- Key Specifications to Consider
- Blade diameter and cutting depth. A 165–190 mm blade with a cutting depth of 55–65 mm covers the majority of construction applications. For precision finish work, consider compact models or plunge-cut saws.
- Battery voltage. 18 V is optimal for light-to-medium tasks. 36–54 V is recommended for extended work with hardwood and thick-section materials.
- Bevel angle. Most models support bevel cuts up to 45–50°, which is necessary for mitre and angled joints.
- Guide rail compatibility. For furniture production and finish carpentry, the ability to work with a guide rail is an important factor — verify this specification when selecting a model.
