Trim saws and compact saws with an 85–136 mm blade on the 18 V LXT or 12 V CXT platform are distinguished by their low weight and suitability for single-handed operation. They are well suited to precise cutting of thin materials, sawing in confined spaces, and installation tasks.

Standard circular saws with a 165–190 mm blade on the 18 V LXT platform are the most widely used class for construction and joinery work. A cutting depth of 55–66 mm covers the majority of practical applications. Most models are compatible with a guide rail.

High-output saws on the 36 V platform (two 18 V LXT batteries) or 40 V XGT with a 190–235 mm blade deliver performance comparable to corded equivalents. These are aimed at extended work with hardwood and thick-section materials.

The Makita Battery Platform

Most Makita circular saws operate on the 18 V LXT platform — the largest brushless battery system in the industry, with more than 250 compatible tool models.
