Knife STORM STORM knife This is a numbered limited edition commemorating Operation Desert Storm in 1991, during which the then Czechoslovak Army took part in its first foreign mission. Its design is therefore based on a combination of the UTON knife, which soldiers carried at the time, and the shapes of Stealth aircraft technology that represented a breakthrough in air warfare at that time. War Veteran Project This is a joint activity by Mikov and the Military Solidarity Fund. Its aim is to connect the memory of soldiers' heroism with tangible assistance to those in need. From every sold STORM knife, 300 CZK will be donated to the Military Solidarity Fund. STORM knife construction The blade is equipped with double-edged blades. The lower blade, 142 mm long with an elevated tip, is identical to that of the UTON knife. The upper blade is divided into two parts: the front descending edge, 74 mm long, follows the elevated tip, which strengthens and enhances its stabbing properties, the rear false edge, 54 mm long, serves as a thumb rest and extends towards the guard on the spine of the handle. The knife guard consists of an elevated spine with a roughened thumb rest that transitions into the handle's recess, and a lower extended integral guard. The lower guard acts as a rest for the index finger and prevents the hand from slipping onto the blade during handling. The handle is a barrel type with black G-10 handle scales; its ergonomics accommodate all grips regardless of hand size. At the rear of the pommel, a slightly metallic part protrudes to prevent damage to the scales on strikes; the pommel has a 4 mm hole for a safety lanyard. The roughening on the handle scales is derived from the UTON knife and is performed by machining. The handle scales are fastened with three M4 hex socket screws with a DLC surface finish. Each knife bears markings of the maker, manufacturer, serial number, and year of manufacture; marking is done by stamping or laser engraving. Sheath and accessories The textile sheath consists of two parts – a modular sheath body and a detachable hanger. The sheath design allows multiple attachment methods to the belt or MOLLE webbing. The knife sheath is made from black, flame-retardant 500 denier laminated Cordura. The straps are made from abrasion- and tear-resistant polyamide. The front of the sheath is engraved with the sleeve insignia of the Czechoslovak Army Pattern 63 used in 1990–1991. The package includes the original sheath for the Storm knife, a certificate of the 300 CZK contribution to the Military Solidarity Fund, an informational brochure about Operation Desert Storm and the Storm knife, and a sticker.
