Cordless Rotary Hammers

Cordless Rotary Hammers — Impact Drilling Without the Cable
A cordless rotary hammer is a power tool for hammer drilling into concrete, brick, stone, and other mineral materials, running on a rechargeable battery. Unlike a standard drill with a hammer mode, a rotary hammer uses an electro-pneumatic impact mechanism that delivers substantially higher impact energy with less physical strain on the operator.
PROFI-INSTRUMENT stocks cordless rotary hammers from leading manufacturers — Festool, Makita, and Milwaukee — for a wide range of construction and installation applications.
Typical Applications
- Drilling holes in concrete, reinforced concrete, and brick
- Drilling stone, porcelain stoneware, and natural stone
- Anchor and fastener installation in load-bearing walls and floor slabs
- Chiselling and demolition work in hammer-only mode
- On-site installation work without access to power outlets
- Work at height, on facades, and in confined spaces
Operating Modes
Most cordless rotary hammers offer three operating modes that define their versatility:
- Drilling without impact is used for work in wood, metal, and plastic — materials where the impact mechanism is unnecessary and may damage the workpiece.
- Hammer drilling is the primary mode for concrete, brick, and stone. The electro-pneumatic mechanism delivers impact energy ranging from 1 to 3+ joules depending on the tool class.
- Chiselling without rotation is used for cutting chases, removing tiles, and breaking brittle mineral materials using a chisel or point bit.
Rotary Hammer Classes
Light rotary hammers with an SDS-plus chuck are designed for drilling holes up to 26–28 mm in diameter in concrete and up to 60 mm with core bits. Impact energy is typically 1.5–3 J. This is the most common class for installation and finishing work.
Heavy rotary hammers with an SDS-max chuck are rated for large-diameter drilling and intensive chiselling. Impact energy starts from 5 J and above. These are used on heavy construction work and demolition tasks.
Advantages of Cordless Rotary Hammers
Mobility. Cable-free operation is essential when working on facades, floor slabs, in basements, and on sites without electrical connection.
Modern power output. 18–40 V battery platforms from leading manufacturers deliver the impact energy and charge capacity needed for a full working shift.
Safety. The absence of a cable eliminates the risk of accidentally drilling through it when working near rebar and metal structural elements.
Operator comfort. Current models are equipped with active vibration control systems that significantly reduce vibration exposure to the operator's hands during extended drilling.
